Embryo adoption can feel like a big, uncertain step, so it helps to hear from people who have already taken it. These are real stories from families who became parents through embryo adoption and donor treatment at the Malpani Infertility Clinic, in their own words. Several travelled from across the world to Mumbai to get here.
A couple from the USA
Told they needed egg donation or embryo adoption, this couple first tried a donor egg cycle in the United States. It failed, and left them drained both emotionally and financially. They travelled to Mumbai, had a short and simple embryo transfer, and a month later learned the pregnancy was confirmed.
Single, 45, and ready
With a low follicle count, she was given less than a 3 percent chance with a sperm donor and about 30 percent with embryo adoption. After waiting until she truly felt ready, she travelled to Mumbai and became, in her words, “the proud mother of the most amazing little person I have ever met.”
After recurrent miscarriage
Three miscarriages and a genetic diagnosis, then two cycles that produced no healthy embryos, led this couple to donor treatment. Their cycle at the clinic worked, and a hard but worthwhile pregnancy ended with a baby girl who, they say, completed their family.
Rosa and Gary, from Tennessee
After premature ovarian failure, failed IVF, and two adoptions from India, Rosa and Gary could not find donor embryos of Indian descent at home. They found the clinic online, travelled for a donor embryo cycle, and now have a house full of children.
